Welcome!
Hi everyone,
Welcome to the program!
Over the two weeks of the program, we’ll be working closely together to bring your business ideas to life and build the kind of standout portfolio that gets noticed by top universities.
I’m Hasina, Founder and CEO of Explorer Hop, and I’ll be your mentor and partner on this journey. You can check out my profile here and reach me anytime at hasina@explorerhop.com.
What We're Aiming For:
This program is all about building something meaningful — a startup that reflects who you are, what you care about, and what makes you different - everything that Unis look for. A startup that is also sustainable, and which you can use to generate funds once you are in university. Along the way, we’ll also help you create the artifacts that make your university applications shine.
To Get Started:
-
Fill out this form
This helps us understand your goals and which universities you’re aiming for, so we can better support you. For US and UK universities, the approach we take is a bit different from Canadian schools, as the admissions teams are looking for different things. -
Start dreaming up your business idea
This is your chance to create something exciting and meaningful — a business that reflects your passions and skills. Think BIG, but stay grounded: you’re starting with zero dollars, so your idea needs to be realistic and build something you’re truly excited to wake up for every day. (The "being excited" part is seriously important).
Impact-driven ideas, especially not-for-profit ventures, stand out to universities (especially US ones) — but more importantly, they can make a real difference. Come with an idea that lights you up and that you believe in. We’ll build it together from the ground up. And ideas do not need to be complicated; in fact, the simple ideas generate more buzz and get more recognition.
Here are questions to ask about your proposed ideas:- Do you have the skills to do it?
- Does it make a reasonable impact on at least 20 people? If yes, what specific impact does it make?
- Can you scale it easily and cheaply?
- Would people (other than your parents and grandparents) pay money for it? (Having a profit-driven business is not a requirement, but it's always nice to make money)
This is a small group, which means we have lots of time to collaborate, brainstorm, and bring your vision to life. Let’s build something amazing together!— Hasina
