Young Entrepreneur: Student Handbook

Welcome

Hi Everyone

Welcome to our camp!  My name is Mahveen and I will be your camp counsellor.

We're so excited to welcome your child to our in-person summer programs! 🎉We  can’t wait to meet the kids and see the amazing things they’ll create, build, and explore with us this summer!

To help you get ready, we’ve included all the important information you’ll need below. Please take a few minutes to read it— It's packed with helpful details about what to bring, what to expect, and how to make the most of the experience!

Young Entrepreneurs is my favourite program to teach because we build businesses that YOU want. I never know what business I am going to launch every week!  To date, Explorer Hop has launched over 500 businesses with kid bosses just like you!

In this blog, you will get information on what you need to bring, updates about the program and all the information you need.  This blog will be updated daily during camp week, so please bookmark this page and refer to it!

General Information:

📍 Location
All of our in-person summer camps will be held at:
St. Clements School, 21 St. Clements Avenue, Toronto, ON M4R 1G8

🕒 Please arrive at 8:45am!
👋 I will meet you at the main entrance on St. Clements Avenue, and we appreciate your cooperation as we follow the building’s strict security protocols. The doors of the school will be closed at 9:00am so please don't be late!

If your child is only in the morning session, the pick up time is 12.05pm.  We are unable to wait with your child so please be on time for pickup.  For students who are in the afternoon session as well, they do not need to be picked up at 12.05pm

⚠️ Allergy Alert!
Nut-Free Facility: Please do not send any nuts or peanuts with your child.

Shellfish Allergy Alert: Due to a high number of campers with shellfish allergies, we also ask that no shellfish products be brought.

📚 What to Bring

  1. A lot of imagination - you have only 5 days to launch a business!
  2. Ideas for our group business
  3. Water Bottle and Snack (Nut Free, Peanut Free and Shellfish Free)
  4. Laptop - while not needed for the first day, this may come in handy for the remaining week as we will be using Canva to create our digital assets
  5. Ideas for a charity to donate your proceeds to

How the program works:

  • As a group we can decide what business we will launch.  The only limitations are your skills.  You have ZERO dollars to launch your business so you need to really use your imagination on how to use the resources that you have.  (Welcome to the world of start ups!)
  • Through the week we will learn about product development, marketing, finance, operations management and sales.
  • The week will end with your business being launched.
  • To keep things simple, all funds raised from selling your business will be donated to a charity chosen by the group.
