About the Wharton competition
The Wharton Global High School Investment Competition is an opportunity for students to use and build their analytical, teamwork, and communication skills through the world of investing. This investment simulation runs for 10 weeks. Teams who make it to the finals are invited to Wharton itself.
The teams will compete against more than 5000 students around the world. Their challenge is to prepare a portfolio that meets the needs of the client and win their business. Teams are able to trade against a limited number of stocks to win their client's business. They will apply all the knowledge they have learned and some more to get the business!

The Explorer Hop team interviewed Wharton participants on their experiences to help prepare future students and offer them insight into what it's like to compete.
Read on for a written version of our interview with Aryan.
EH: How was your experience with the Wharton competition?
Aryan: It was a really good teaching experience for me. It taught me how and where to invest in such a risky market. I feel like working in a team really enhanced the competition and made it much more fun rather than working just individually.
EH: What is your favourite trade?
Kishen: BlackRock was a big thing that enhanced our team and initiated our team's success and I think that because of BlackRock it gave us a big lead and it was our best investment and it gave us the highest return.
EH: What were your likes/dislikes about the competition.
Aryan: A big thing I liked about the competition was the things I learned. I'd say before the competition I would say I wouldn't know how to analyze the market, day trade, I wouldn't know a lot about this stuff. But learning so much about it and realizing I know so much about the topic really made me feel good about it.
EH: What is your biggest takeaway from the competition?
Aryan: To anyone that is interested in this type of investing and pressure, if you want a challenge and go do this. You learn a lot and I'd say this is a big competition for my future and anyone else's future and I recommend this to anyone I could.
