May 5-7, 2023

MATH HACKATHON

For Grades 6-12

What is Math Hackathon?

The Math Hackathon (May 5-7, 2023) is a global math competition where contestants use math to solve one of our world's most pressing issues. We are aligned with the United Nations Sustainability Plan and challenge students around the world to find a solution to a problem we all face using the math they know.

Who can register?

The competition is open to students all around the world who are between the ages of 11- 17 and who are enrolled full time in school. We welcome students with all different Math levels

OPEN TO STUDENTS ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD!

Join as yourself or as part of a team!

Participants can join either as individuals (if they want to work on their project solo) or join as a group of maximum 4 members, and work collaboratively with others.

What is the competition all about?

  1. We pick a theme aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development goals every year
  2. We describe a challenge in a case scenario
  3. Contestants find a solution using whatever math they know

In the last 3 years, our contestants solved the problem of vaccine deliveries in underprivileged countries, created sustainable living communities by designing a walkable city and worked on solutions for sustainability and inequality.

This year's theme is keeping our oceans clean.

How do I submit my solution?

Once the competition opens, you will be able to access our math portal which will allow you to submit your answer. The portal can easily be accessed on the web and does not require any additional software.
