In the fall, we visited High Park in downtown Toronto. It was a very fun day with a great playground shaped like a castle.

Our girls play basketball against a neighbouring school. We went to watch in our gymnasium and cheer them on!

We do collaborative problem solving on vertical spaces sometimes for Math. Three brains are better that one! It helps us learn to share our ideas and respect the ideas of others.

We also like to play math games with dice and cards. It’s fun to practice multiplication and division this way!

Day 6, Feb 10, 2020

Hello our names are Kylie and Lara.

This year we have started a thing called mystery reader. Mrs. Bertuzzi would put hints on the sharp board and we try to guess who it is. Sometimes we have parents, sometimes teachers and even our principal came. We read so many books like Wayside School and Carson Crosses Canada. We were counting our reading minutes to raise money for MS Readathon. Do you know what MS is? Multiple Sclerosis. We are one of the top money raising schools in Ontario. We are very proud of that.

We got a lot of snow on the weekend. At playground, most people made big giant snowmen.

We are making Google Slide projects on the physical regions of Canada. When they are complete, we will share the file with you and you can see our work! They are just about finished.

Our teacher, Mrs. Bertuzzi, is busy putting together our introduction letters. They will be sent soon too!

Hope you have a great day!

Day 4: Feb 6, 2020

Hi, our names are Timothy and Maya. Today we did our grade 4 play called Theseus and the Minotaur. We celebrated with cookies after. We wore ancient Greek costumes. Some of the little kids thought we were singing “swimming in the atrium” when really we were singing “living in the ancient world”. We thought that was pretty funny. Do you know what an atrium is? It is where we performed our play. We will send a picture of us performing as soon as we can! Maybe even a little video snip if we are allowed.

In Math today, we learned multiplying and dividing decimals by ten and one hundred. It was really easy. You just move the decimal point! For Language homework, we are writing introductions to ourselves like you requested. As soon as they are all ready, we will send them along!

We are off to recess now for the end of the day. Talk to you tomorrow!

Day 3: Feb 5, 2020

Hi!

We are Amelie and Toma from L4C.

Our teacher and class is wondering what is a mother-teacher concept? We saw your mindfulness video too. We were impressed by how well you guys do transitions every time like this. We will show you some of our activities soon. We listen to videos and a mindfulness bowl/chime. We also do silent quick writing, listen to calming music, and concentrate on a colourful light-changing ball that looks like the moon! We have also done imagining and deep breathing like you did on the video!  Try this one! https://www.bing.com/videos/search?q=mindfulness+meditation+for+kids&ru=%2fvideos%2fsearch%3fq%3dmindfulness%2520meditation%2520for%2520kids%26qs%3dn%26form%3dQBVR%26sp%3d-1%26pq%3dmindfulness%2520meditation%2520for%2520kids%26sc%3d4-31%26sk%3d%26cvid%3d55F3A8858D7B4F7EAC9AF8F7CEDB272C&view=detail&mid=AF92D102649C608E1F2AAF92D102649C608E1F2A&&FORM=VDRVRV

Also, we looked at your morning song, and we really liked it. It was so amazing that english was your 3rd language and you can still sing that well! And yes, we would like to see your comics! We are also making some too. And, we want to know about those games. One of our favourite recess games is GaGa.

Today, we want to talk about our school construction. Because of the construction, for now, we are in the upper school campus. We are with the older kids (Grades 6-12) instead of with the younger students (Grades K-5). Our classroom is nice but we have to share lockers. We get better snacks like muffins, cookies, chocolate pudding and popsicles at the upper school. But the bad thing is that we have to travel back and forth and from the upper school to the lower school campus about 3-4 times a day. After the construction is finished, we will have an indoor pool and a new gym facility! We are very excited.

We have added a picture of some of our favourite class activiites. We made shirts for Orange Shirt day to celebrate the indigenous culture, we play many math games, word art of Canadian aspects, our Halloween jack-o-lantern, we created our own cereal boxes, our mindfulness bowl, graphs we made, fun word study ( I spelled my word with chocolate!) and our stuffed panda and orangutan. We adopted a panda and orangutan from WWF.com . Our stuffies are named Oreo and Cinnamon. Can you guess which one is which? We take turns bringing them home and writing about the adventures they have at our homes on the weekend.

We are asking our school and parents for permission to include more videos and photographs with our blog. Hopefully, that will happen soon! Keep your videos and photos coming. It is so interesting to see your school and classroom. It is so different yet so much the same as ours! We hope you have a great day with your class, and hope you write back soon!

Day 2: Feb 4, 2020

A note from Krish

Hello,

Today at our school we went skiing at Lakeridge ski resort. Our school has a learn how to ski program for grades 2,3,4,5. We have four ski days and today was our third ski day. Some of the hills are really steep. You need to wear warm winter clothing because it can get very cold. Some of the class uses the chair lift to go up the mountain.

Ski days are a lot of fun because we have no classes that day.  We leave early in the morning and ski until 2pm.

It’s also fun because we get to spend the whole day with our friends. Most of our class are good skiers and some of us are still learning. On our ski day we also have a lunch break at 12:00. We can also bring our own skis if we have them or you can rent skis and a helmet. To get to the resort we all take a coach bus or your parents drive you to the resort.

Skiing is a good sport to learn because we can ski in many different counties so if we go anywhere we know how to ski.

Skiing is also part of our gym class.

Skiing is such an amazing sport and we wonder if you know how to ski.

Day 1: Feb 3, 2020

Hello!

We are so excited about writing to you we don’t even know where to begin! Right now we are shouting lots of information at our teacher all at the same time!

First, we want to tell you that we have a class fish named Blobby Joe. He is a beta fish, other wise known as a Japanese Fighting fish. It eats about 4 pellets a day and we have someone whose job it is to feed him.

We are also very busy this week because we are practicing for our Spring Festival, which is a play we do every year. Our play is called Theseus and the Minotaur. Do you do a play at your school?

We are learning about many things. Like in Math, we are adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing decimals. We are getting better at mindfulness. We are learning about Canada’s physical regions in Social Studies and Rocks and Minerals in Science. In Language, we are reading and learning about graphic novels. We just finished reading the book Kite Fighters by Linda Sue Park. It was really good. You should read it! What are you learning about in your class?

Some of our boys have left for a basketball tournament for the afternoon. We also have girls volleyball this term. Does your school play any team sports?

We hope to hear from you soon.

Love,

The Class of L4C
