Christmas and, specifically, receiving gifts on Christmas has always been something focused on the kids. It’s always the kids that get to have fun opening the big presents on Christmas morning, whether they are games, toys, books, learning materials, clothes or something else.   This year, let’s change that. Help your kids get you something great for Christmas. 

Just how awesome would it be if you could give someone a gift for the holidays one year and then never have to give them a gift ever again? You give someone a gift that is SO GOOD, they continue to love it every year and they don’t expect something different 12 months later. They’re happy, you’re happy, and most importantly… your wallet is smiling from one end to the other. 

If you want your teen to be on a path towards potentially becoming the next Warren Buffett, now is the time to make sure they are prepared for the investing future that awaits them and the best way to do that is by giving them access to resources that will properly prepare them for what’s ahead.  One way you can do that is through our Global Investment Challenge 3. 

This Christmas, ingenuity is a necessity and rather than the same old stuff, give your kids and loved ones gifts that they will use and remember. What better way to start the year than learning how to invest. Kids today are savvier than ever before, and it’s quite normal for them to have a rudimentary understanding of the stock market, taxes and even bitcoin.

After a 20-year career spent managing high-profile corporate projects and travelling the globe (visiting more than 45 countries, and living in eight), Hasina Lookman was ready for a change. She wanted the autonomy to do something she loved that would make a difference in the lives of others. But what? Her 10-year-old daughter, Mira, suggested teaching kids about money and travel — two areas in which Hasina has plenty of expertise. So, she started Explorer Hop — a series of “adventure” programs that teach kids financial literacy and global awareness, helping develop financially savvy youth with an appreciation for different cultures.

So why should you teach your kids about Investing? We know that talking about investing and saving early on, helps kids understand the importance of money. They know exactly how much effort and work are put in to earn and save money! Giving them this opportunity to learn and ask questions right now means that they will have a better hold on their financial future. This learning will help them question, think, and reflect about money matters from an early age and thus they’ll be better equipped in their adulthood. And that’s what we want right? A brighter and better future for our kids. 

There’s no cookie-cutter answer to how you can become successful as an entrepreneur, but we have a few wise words from our students! These inspiring kids participated in our Entrepreneurship Festival and came up with incredible business ideas.  These young entrepreneurs came up with incredible ideas and went through an intense 5-step process before they pitched their business idea!

Our founder Hasina Lookman raises an important question, “How can anyone be successful if they can’t manage money? The education system teaches them to read and write from age six, but at what point are we teaching them about money?” And that’s how Explorer Hop was born.

Throughout this partnership we will be expanding our community and combining our teams with DECA will not only increase our exposure, but will also enable students to connect with children from all over the world and create an empowered community!

This year, we have officially partnered with Scouts Canada, allowing us to offer new and unique opportunities to our community of young students and entrepreneurs. You are now able to earn your missing Scouts badges by completing a variety of Explorer Hop’s very own courses; from public speaking to investing, we have it all! Take this opportunity to immerse yourself into the world of knowledge.

Learning math can be fun and Explorer Hop is here to just do that! We’re taking it one step further and introducing a Math Hackathon. Why a Hackathon you ask? Hackathons are a great opportunity to bring students, teachers and parents together and to instil a spirit of passion and enthusiasm for Math Challenges!
